Update; the seller was kind enough to contact me and share instructions to work around this limitation. It is a little complicated but it works! you need to download and install a specific version on inkscape (free), 2 more extensions for this software, convert your EPS to AI on Illustrator, import that file to inkscape, apply the extension and then you get a Gcode file which then you can use in in the laserpecker app.———————————————————————No capability to convert EPS files to Gcode. The app includes a library of images you can use, but if you want to use a customer’s logo you CAN’T use the vector file; so you have to export it to image and then use the tools available in the app, the result is choppy lines, not professional at all, making this machine an expensive toy.

The Laserpecker 2 is a more practical update to the LP1. Although I miss the portability of the LP1, the 2’s additional features make it worth the extra weight. The attachable hood vent keeps the smoke and smell to a minimum. The mechanical arm is definitely a lot better than remeasuring the 11 mm I needed from objects I was etching. And although the roller module is not perfect, it provides the system added versatility to etch into tumblers and other curved objects. All in all a fantastic update.

I like that its easy to use. Price is a little high. But worth it.

A little bit expensive

Product may be fine but how would I know? You’ve got power, depth, number of passes, all affect the final result. One might think they would provide some good tutorials. Not so much! I think this is three guys and a truck duck because the appplication is pathetic and there’s no guidance. You can always tell how professional the organization is by the quality of documentation. They don’t have any. What little there is is in ooor quality English.

I tried it on shinny metal and it dosent work then the company said the material had to be flat.

I cannot review performance because I have not taken it out of the original boxes. However, I do have a concern with hair I found on the tapes of the various boxes. This has caused me to hesitate on original packaging vs refurbished or recycled. I am not a fan of finding these items on tape especially when I have experience in manufacturing. This is never a good sign. I will continue to weigh my options on this product.

I had the previous version, the original LaserPecker and used it quite a bit to laser my signature onto the bottom of hand turned bowls; and it has usually always worked. This new one, the LaserPecker 2 may be a superior laser than the original, but it’s a big ole PITA to actually use. Why? The app. The app absolutely sucks. It doesn’t have an option for Imperial measurements, requiring to use mm. I know I’m an obstinate American, but I do not think nor visualize in metric, but in inches. Too bad the app doesn’t allow for it.Another thing about the app, compared to the original, it has issues connecting via BlueTooth. It generally takes me 5 or 6 attempts before it will actually connect. A time waster for sure. The app keeps saying I need to update, even though I download the update via the app, but it doesn’t ever seem to install. So every time I open it, I have to re-update again. Every damn time. Plus the app never seems to want to shut down, I have to force shut it every time.I wish I could like the laser better, but as long as it’s tied to this crappy app, I feel like I really wasted my money.[EDIT 7/13/2022]Working with tech support, I was finally able to get the app updated, which allowed me to use the laser and the app. But I still think the app is the worst aspect of this product.

Same settings, same glasswear. Some came out streaky some OK. Cuts leather sometimes. Just not dependable! I can’t believe I’m paying on this thing. More like a toy!

The LP2 is a vast improvement over the LP1. Much, much faster, more powerful but all the high tech goodies are seriously hampered by the software, both the phone based and especially the PC based version. I hate having to give this only a 3 star rating because the hardware is much better than that. But the device is only as good as the software that runs it, and in the software is seriously lacking. At this price this is what I’d call a “semi professional” engraver. And while the hardware is what I would call professional grade, the software most definitely is not. The IOS version of the software seems relatively stable but it is ridiculously awkward to try to use it to do professional level work because of the difficulties in trying to get artwork into the app. The only way I can reliably get my artwork from Photoshop into the app is by taking a photo of the the computer screen with the phone and then accessing the photo roll from the app. Then trying to use fingers to properly crop and rotate the image on a cell phone screen… No, sorry, there’s no excuse for this. I should not have to import a drawing by taking a picture of the screen. Let me just import the image directly via iCloud or some other cloud service. If the PC software worked properly this wouldn’t be a problem. (The PC software at least lets one directly import art from the original files.) But it doesn’t work well. The PC software works, sort of, but is riddled with bugs, has no documentation, the controls often don’t seem to work at all. Attempting to change the laser power level, depth, etc. seems, as often as not, to result in no actual change in the engraving. The log in procedures, having to enter “unlock” codes and all the rest in the name of “safety” is simply adding to difficulties of using the software.Trying to access the LP2 from a PC via Bluetooth doesn’t seem to work at all. The Bluetooth drivers provided by the company won’t even install. Well, if you can even find them. Direct connection from the computer to the LP2 via a USB cable seems to be the only way it can be done, but even that will lose connection for some reason, requiring both the LP2 hardware and the program to be shut down and restarted before it can connect again. To sum up, it’s a great little laser, well made, good quality hardware, that’s crippled by inadequate and buggy software on the PC side, and an awkward and difficult to use APP on the cell phone side.

I’m 70 yrs old and have just purchased my first laser burner, the price was good, and the learning curve is pretty easy. I have been taking pics with my phone then with blue tooth it burns it on wood or other material just like the pic. I know I need more practice but this thing is cool.

I love how portable and powerful this laser is. It’s my first and a guy that has a commercial laser said it was def. an art to get things to come out correctly. I’ve had fantastic results so far and I’m just getting started! There are some annoying issues with the software. For instance if you click the auto-crop button it erases the size of your image. Switching between other settings will do the same thing. It feels like it’s built very sturdy. It’s def. a quality piece of equipment.

Overall I am very happy with this purchase. The Laser Pecker is quick to set up and very easy to begin using with the downloadable app. Fast etching process and have had impressive results with both wood and leather projects. The roller is fantastic for etching coated stainless steel tumblers, but I haven’t had great results with bare stainless steel. I haven’t used the roller to move the etcher itself over a longer distance, but looking forward to giving it a try. I have only owned the laser etcher for about a month and excited to try more materials. The etching area is limited to roughly a 4” x 4” area, but as previously mentioned, if you use the roller you can etch a much longer project (still limited to a 4” height). Positioning the materials under the laser can be time consuming. Using metal rulers, strong magnets, and a cookie sheet, I built a guide to save time when engraving multiple copies of the same project. It has been a time saver. I’ve attached pictures to show what I did.

You will quickly learn that every cup is different. I tried using the setting from a Walmart tumble on a yeti and the first time it wasn’t strong enough and the 2nd time I burned it by going too hard. It all has to do with how thick the powder coat is. Yeti is a thick coat then most others so I’ve done a lot of whoops to get it right. Plan on needing a well ventilated room. By the 3rd cup all I could smell was burning and you’ll start to see particulates in the air. I suggest taking screen shots everytime you use a new setting just incase it’s the magic one. Turning the power over 50% almost always burns a stainless steel cup, change the depth but not the power. You want to cut through the powder coat but not scorch the steel. It’s happened to me many time. The software isn’t that great which is why it got 4 stars and the stock photos are incredibly limited and not even close to relevant. Luckily google images has your back. Overall I am glad I got it even though I’m just using it for fun to engrave my own cups and maybe some wood. For wood I highly recommend setting ti to my 2 passes, it helps bring out the definition in the image and the harder the wood the more passes it’ll need. 1k images will print within a minute, 2k images will take 3x longer. Although the 1k images look pretty good. I’ll recommend Walmart clearance tumblers for some practice before making anything special. Pay attention to the preview. It shows where the image will start and end before printing, it’s a last chance to turn the cup or slide it up and down.

I bought a Laserpecker 2 from last week, and it’s so good that I’ve actually thrown out the two smaller, cheaper versions I’d already bought from other manufactures. This one’s able to engrave much larger objects (up to 5″ high). One thing that makes it really stand out is the way it focusses. The other models required that I manually turn a knob to get two beams to meet to make “the smallest dot.” It was hard to see what was “smallest.” To focus the Laserpecker, you just need to make sure that the laserhead is 11cm above the object, and the unit gives three different ways to do this. The beam control is very nice, the adjustable depth is also nice. I haven’t tried the roller yet. It’s a VERY nice product – I even bought another one as a gift for a friend, who’s thinking of engraving some of the small gifts that she sells in her shop.

I had wrote a review a couple days back and at the time I was rather disappointed in my decision to purchase this. (LaserPecker 2)Received it, unpacked it, and assembled. No problem. When uploading the App be sure to get the one for the laserpecker 2. The instructions just states “Laserpecker”. I found there is a difference. Same thing on the software for the computer. Laserpecker 2. Those are currently in a Beta version. On pairing the unit to your phone or tablet, you must do that through the App itself, otherwise it will not pair. Once paired than you can register your account in the App. They WILL send you a verification code to your registered email. Enter code and it “unlocks” the App. But make sure the unit is paired first before doing that step. App is basic. User friendly for most part. Did a few engravings with it and pleased with the results. I can see where this would and will be good for smaller projects.Only down side is the users manual. Lacks valuable steps needed for a smooth setup. Thank goodness for some YouTube videos 😊👍. That first night I was ready to send it back… Once I found out what the lacking steps was, I’m pretty happy with the engraver.. I know I’ve read alot of negative reviews on these units, but after experiencing what I did, I see why they left the bad reviews. Steps got left out of the manual. So have patience…So far its nice unit.

I almost didn’t buy this, but a good friend of mine recommended that I give it a try. He had an LP2 and upgraded to an LP4. I bought this about 3 weeks ago and have been using it daily, without much issue. This laser has cut/etched everything that I’ve tried it with: glass, different types of hardwood, pine, leather, plastic, stainless steel, etc. You have to be patient and willing to try different settings of power, depth, and resolution; those three combined make the speed at which it processes. It seems that many had issues with glass. Here’s what I found that works for me:100% power45% depth1k resolution, or higherAnd, the most important thing is a dull, flat black coating on the glass. I use automobile primer, etch the glass with the laser, then clean off the primer with mineral spirits. I’ve also tried it with acrylic paint, which works, and can be washed off with water, but I had difficulty getting a thin coat. The primer is much easier. Again, these have to be flat black, not glossy. Glossy makes it to hard to see the preview, as the laser reflects off of the coating. With regards to the software, yes, it’s rudimentary at best! Personally, I use Inkscape (free, open-source) to make my designs, export them as PNG files, and bring them into LaserPecker Design Space as images, place them where I want in the preview, and let it run. It works quite well.If you’re looking for something that’s compatible with LightBurn, this isn’t it. This laser only works with the proprietary software. That’s it.The bluetooth will disconnect is you stray to far away from the machine, but the machine keeps right on moving along, but you lose the percentage complete info. Not a big deal, to me.My only issue is that, supposedly, you can do a long press on the buttons to raise and lower the laser head. This works for about about 5% of the time in the up direction, and 25% of the time, in the down direction. So, I try, and try, and try, and eventually just press one at a time, raising/lowering it 1 mm at a time. I’ve learned to be patient, so it lost a star for that business. It seems to work better when it’s warmer in the room, but maybe I’m imagining that. 🙂

I have wanted a laser engraver for quite some time but given the higher cost of these machines, I wanted to be sure that I made an informed decision. I do recommend that if you’re considering purchasing a laser burner/ engraver, know what it is that you are wanting to accomplish with this machine and then do your research to make sure that the one you choose checks off all of your needs. Initially, I had a basic understanding of the capabilities of a laser engraver but after watching several hours of reviews, that covered the different types of lasers available, as well as side by side comparisons, I was able to narrow down the list of laser engravers that suited my needs. From the beginning, LaserPecker stood out from the rest due to it not requiring a huge portion of real estate on my already crowded work benches. In addition to the its small size and portability, the LP2 set itself aside with its versatility. However, it is important to note that the level versatility is partially dependent upon the accessories you have, The accessories can be purchased separately or as bundle with the laser. There was one consistent complaint with the LP2 and it was the size of the working area and although it is a bit smaller than most, LaserPecker more than makes up for it with an additional accessory. When the LP2 is paired with the rotary /trolley attachment the length that can be engraved or cut is extended by feet. Yes, I said feet!!! This option is an absolute game changer because even the larger lasers rarely can burn or cut lengths of over 2 feet. There are several other specs that i know I haven’t mentioned but this review is far longer than I intended, so overall I’m very pleased with my LP2 and would recommend it to my anyone in the market for a laser engraving/ cutting machine!!!

This is so far superior to the LP1, and very reasonably priced. Love it so far.

I recently retired and have been spending a lot of time in my workshop (i.e. garage). I got this thing to allow me to make some Christmas ornaments for siblings and, after a few test to get the right depths for wood, am thrilled with the results! I also have been using it to burn my “logo” into projects I’m making for family. I love that I can design anything, convert it to an image, and voila! It takes more time to burn my own designs that using the provided fonts and images, but that’s fine by me!

It is pretty powerful for what it is. Fun to do little project currently using it to cut twill patches. The trace box is great the software is pretty simple to use as well and I am still finding new ways to use it.

I am absolutely blown away by how compact and light weight the unit is. It made me skeptical at first since I doubted anything this size could handle harder materials like stone (but it does with ease!). Second, the quality of build and intuitive controls make this a breeze to set up and start operating. As others have said, you can be up and going within 10-15minutes and that’s taking your time. After doing some test runs on the provided materials (also very much appreciated), I set up a slate coaster to see how it would perform. Initially I had set the unit on too high a resolution (2k) and too small but once I figured out my mistake, the subsequent tester was so easy!A few things I wanted to bring up (not so much that they are issues as little grievances). The included hood with fan is much appreciated but it’s so effective that I can not see the previews. I guess raising/lowering to view isn’t too complicated, but I just want to be sure I’m not wearing things out prematurely. *EDIT* Customer service contacted me and explained how to adjust the brightness so previews are legible through the hood. Super easy adjustment on the app and I can’t believe I didn’t see it* Last, if it would be possible to have increments labeled on the laser’s stand for quick reference, that would be appreciated (I used blue painter’s tape to mark my settings for now).Overall, this has been a great investment. I have branded coasters (slate), leather patches, glasses and stainless mugs, and my phone cover with flawless results. It’d be hard to beat this level of quality at this price. You can certainly find cheaper units out there but why waste your time and money on inferior quality results.

This is a great little galvo laser. It is a smaller work area than some, and a little bit less powerful than others. As long as your expectations are within what it advertises for material, it works fantastically. It is not designed nor does it claim to engrave on bare metal, but coated metal, would, slate, cork all work great. The software is easy to use and set up and you can be lasering in less than 10 minutes!

I bought this for labeling and signing my wood creations. A LP1 would have done that just fine but i went with a LP2. More than I need for my intended needs but opens up more possibilities on other items. Once I found the design space app and was able to burn a curved text and I am almost 100% satisfied. More font selections and I would be 100% satisfied for the initial intended purpose. Now with that said after playing and going beyond my intended purpose of simple labeling the app could be improved on and there is a leaning curve on how the machine burns on other material and what format is being used. The storage case the company sent after doing an initial suggestion reply they asked for is rather nice. This machine is extremely portable and the power requirements are very low, so for storage and transport the case is a great addition.
